Field Reflections from the Pacific Crest Trail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Eighteen days after deciding to restart a previously abandoned research project, Chen-Yin boarded a plane to the United States. In the days prior, she had obtained her PCT permit, booked round-trip tickets, prepared all the necessary gear, and applied for a visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She intentionally placed herself in an entirely unfamiliar environment\u2014as a solo woman thru-hiker conducting field research on the Pacific Crest Trail\u2014exploring survival skills, self-care, and mental health through lived experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was her first time in the United States, in Canada, her first long-term journey in the wilderness, and her first time camping alone in the snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The facilitator is engaged on an hourly basis. The fee covers program design, facilitation, and teaching.<\/li>\n
  • The inviting organization is responsible for tax reporting in accordance with local regulations and for all logistical arrangements, including venue, equipment, materials, registration, administrative coordination, and on-site support.<\/li>\n
  • For events outside Taipei, travel and accommodation must be provided or reimbursed.
